Adrenaline rush

January 19, 2008

What are the things that you could possibly do when you wake up at 8 A.M in the morning on a lovely Saturday?

Eat some hot steaming Dim Sum with Yit Char?

Do some charity?

Or put yourself in the line of fire of green pellets flying towards you at un-Godly speed.

Option 3 isn’t that bad.

With the final reminder to have the mask on at all times, the marshal sent us into the field to our sides. Navin, Eujin, Kenny, Kim and Chiaw Yin was on my team. We were going against Abdul, David, Duncan, Nikki, Alicia and Ray.

5,4,3,2,1…

The first round’s strategy didn’t really work well for me. I was in the middle with Kenny. The rest are in pairs covering the left and right flank. Maybe it was my bright blue T-shirt. Or maybe because I teased Duncan and Abdul about their size too much. They did say after that, that they were trying their very best to aim at me. After getting a few rounds off my gun, I was shot right in the mask. My googles was a green mess. I raised up my hand and walked out.

In the 2nd round, I paired up with Kim on the right flank. Our task was primarily to cover the middle team, while they go off and do the killing. Of course, we managed to get some killing of our own done. Duncan’s arm was visible beside a bunker. Shoot, see where the bullet hits, calibrate, shoot. Repeat a few times, and a green splotch appeared on Duncan’s arm.

It seems that I wasn’t meant to get bruised today. The shot that sent me out of the field, was yet again another one on the helmet. In a real battlefield, I would be dead instantly, instead of being hurt.

At round 3 we changed ends of the field. Kim and I planned our strategies again. But I wasn’t meant to live long in this one, since accurate(or lucky) shots from Raymond from the other end from behind a tree caught me on my arm. I raised my hand to surrender, and was rewarded by another shot on the wrist.

Round 4 on the other hand was awesome. I made sure the guy behind the tree didn’t get me, and ran from bunker to bunker ahead. After a while try to copy Abdul’s excellent combating skill of laying prone and showing unattractive parts of his body, I gave up because I could see paintballs bouncing off the grass ahead of me, heading straight for my helmet again.

The marshal was yelling “forward forward”. At this time probably there was 3 left on my side, and 2 on Duncan’s side. I spotted him behind a bunker, and waited for him to show parts of his body. After a while, he just doesn’t seem to want to do so. Running over to his bunker, I started shooting at him from close range. He started curling up into a ball, shouting “Pain pain”. The only thing going through my mind was “How the heck did the pellets not burst. They bounced off him like he was an invincible. Nevermind, shoot some more”. LOL. It wasn’t until he shot me back on the right wrist that I came back to reality, and that was the end of his suffering.

David later gave this really funny expression, representing the people outside the field who was looking in horror when I mercilessly shot Duncan on the body at close range. I swear Duncan, the pellets did not burst!

Some other funny/amusing moments on the field.

1. Duncan and Eujin was battling it out at close range, and a neat shot from Duncan caused a splotch to appear on Eujin’s crotch area.

2. Kenny apparently shot Ray at the crotch too. The poor guy could hardly walk now.

3. Navin ran out of bullet at the last round, and was shouting “I’m out of bullets, I’m out of bullets”. I shouted back “What can I do???”. But then he offered to fakely shoot the enemies (the sound’s much louder when there’s no bullets) to confuse them so that I can run forward. Good man. :D

4. Abdul putting his soldiering knowledge to the test, and he survived for a long time by lying prone on the floor while gunning the enemy.

5. Duncan getting shot on the face, and had paint all over his glasses and forehead when he removed the mask. He looked like an alien just died on top of the face.

6. Someone’s gun was malfunctioning, and was shooting like he/she was using a submachine gun instead. *Think rapid fire*

For other perspective and recounts of this experience, check out Alicia, Duncan, Chiaw Yin and David’s blog (when and if they blog about this).

Safe to say this was the most fun I’ve had in a while. And it’s certainly my type of adrenaline rush, compared to those theme park rides and what not.

Now it’s safe to say that most (if not all) of us had a simply great time. And that there shall certainly be a next time. Which more or less should be the last weekend of February/Early March, on a Saturday (I believe it’s the 1st of March). So mark your calendar guys, and we shall do battle again. Grudges shall be cleared, and more marks of war shall be accumulated.

I know I’ll be anticipating it. Care to join us?
